How We’re Making Waves in the South West

At PillTime, we’re making waves in the South West with our online prescription service.

With a series of recent award nominations, and a visit from the West of England Metro Mayor, Dan Norris, find out all about how we’re transforming the pharmaceutical landscape through our innovative digital service:

Prescription Service: About PillTime

Established in 2016, we founded our company on the principle of using AI and robotics to create a simpler and safer method of medication administration for those on repeat prescriptions.

Now the fourth biggest NHS online pharmacy in England, our pouching method is helping thousands of people to get the most out of their medication, and take greater control of their health — including those in residential care and supported living.

Our Recent Award Nominations

Celebrating both team and business success, we’re delighted with our recent award nominations that highlight just how important, and helpful, our online prescription service is.

Recognising both our team and individual stars, our nominations for the Chemist and Druggist awards included:

  • Superintendent Pharmacist, Sadik Al-Hasan, for ‘Manager of the Year’;
  • Senior Pharmacist, Josh Edwards, for ‘Community Pharmacist of the Year’;
  • Technical Safety Lead, Emily Richardson, for ‘Community Pharmacist of the Year’;
  • Our Customer Care Team for ‘Pharmacy Team of the Year’;
  • And PillTime, for ‘Online Innovation of the Year’.

On top of the above, our pharmacy team was also nominated for the ‘Above and Beyond Award’, following our initiative to support those presenting with a mental health crisis.

What One of Our Clients, AbleCare Homes, Had to Say

AbleCare Homes is a Bristol-based care group, with six homes in and around the city — all of which use our services. Here's what they had to say about our services: “PillTime is doing an outstanding job in delivering essential medicines to those in need.

“Here at AbleCare, their pharmacy offering is now a crucial component of the systems that ensure our residents receive the medication they need, when they need it.

“Reducing medication rounds stress, it helps to take the pressure off our staff, who are able to spend more time focused on caring and engaging with the individuals they’re looking after.

“It’s fantastic to see PillTime up for some very much deserved awards – and equally fantastic to be able to build such a strong working relationship with a Bristol based company.”

Online Prescription Service: An Award Win!

Of these incredible nominations, Josh Edwards went on to win ‘Community Pharmacist of the Year’ — a true testament to his commitment and forward-thinking approach to our digital service.

He said, ““I’m absolutely delighted. The Chemist and Druggist awards are the most prestigious in the sector, so it’s an honour to even be shortlisted, let alone win the award.

“At PillTime, whilst a digital pharmacy, we are part of the pharmacy ecosystem and we like to think we work with community pharmacies to do the work they’re unable to do, releasing capacity to allow them to focus on their strengths, and thereby helping the NHS.

“To be named ‘Community Pharmacist of the Year' though, really serves to underline our patient centred culture.”

Our Working Partnerships in the South West

We’ve established working partnerships with some of the South West's leading care providers, to help bring the benefits of our prescription service to those in supported living and residential care.

This includes the likes of Hft (a national charity supporting more than 2,500 people), and AbleCare.

Along with our provision to the care sector, we’re also engaged in a promising pilot programme with Bristol Royal Infirmary, where discharged patients are sent home with PillTime pouches to make managing new multi-medication regimens easier and safer.

A Visit From the Mayor

These local successes prompted Mayor Norris to pay us a visit, where he received a tour of our facilities, viewing the advanced robotics and technological solutions first-hand.

During the tour, he even had the chance to see how we manage our prescription service, from order to final delivery, and the ease and safety of the system.

He said, “I’m delighted to visit the brilliant facilities at PillTime. They are offering something really quite unique here, which could completely revolutionise how people across the country get the medications they need.

“This is pharmacy for the future. Helping patients get their prescriptions, with all their medications sorted into really handy pouches, and straight to their doorstep as well, could eliminate the need for multiple trips to the pharmacy and provide them with some peace of mind which can go a long way.

“I look forward to seeing them continue to grow and support communities across this great region, and beyond.”
